
Kelly Clarkson, in full Kelly Brianne Clarkson, (born April 24, 1982, Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.), American performer, songwriter and TV host who became known as a pop star having won the telecast talent show American Idol in 2002. Clarkson was born in Burleson, Texas, a suburb within Fort Worth, where her voice was first noticed by her school's choir teacher when she was a seventh-grader. Clarkson dropped out of high school to move towards Los Angeles where she failed to get a job in the entertainment industry. Clarkson was chosen as a participant in the Fox Broadcasting Company's American Idol singing competition, where viewers were able to cast their vote on their favourite performance. Fans were amazed by Clarkson's arresting performance, charisma, and humor. She won $1 million and included a recording contract with RCA.
